A little about me
Hello! I'm Lauren.
I founded Invigorate Counselling in 2021. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CPRO).

I completed my Master of Arts degree from Northcentral University in Marriage and Family Therapy. Previously I completed my Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology, and then went on to complete a postgraduate diploma in Behaviour Science Technology from George Brown College.

I have worked in the social service field since 2011. I worked as a Behaviour Therapist for an organization supporting people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder for a number of years; and currently work in accessibility services at a major postsecondary institution. I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2017, and interned for two nonprofit counselling agencies, working with a variety of clients and presenting concerns.

On a personal level, I love brunch and farmer's markets. I have a rescue dog named Chester, who is a Pomsky (a mix between a Pomeranian and a Husky) - and he is the happiest dog who loves anyone willing to give him pets. I have been described as an "eternal optimist" and strive to see the potential in every situation and person I encounter. I have a very real love of everything and anything sweet!

My Approach
I work mainly from an Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, incorporating Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Therapy and Solution-Oriented perspectives. I see emotions as being the catalyst to thoughts, behaviours, and actions. I believe we feel intuitively and experience our emotions both consciously and unconsciously. It is through exploring our emotional experiences that we are able to process and give meaning to the experiences we have in life and with the various people we encounter.

I strive to ensure that the space I create is welcoming, non-judgemental, safe, and supportive. I am passionate about people, the stories they tell, and the resiliency they hold.
